Hi all,
I have a workbook that isn't very large (about 1.5MB) that has a lot of code in it. When logged into my firm's network, the security level is always set to Medium (the "Enable Macros" prompt should always be displayed). When the file is on a local drive, the prompt is always displayed, as it should be; however this workbook normally resides on a LAN drive.
I've noticed that for large files (that take a while to open), there are times that the prompt is never displayed and the workbook automatically opens with macros disabled. Normally, 1.5MB isn't large enough to cause this issue, but when connected to my firm's LAN remotely (from home or Starbucks, etc), the LAN connection is considerably slower. In this situation, the prompt asking you to enable/disable macros almost never displays, which leads me to think Excel (Office XP) was programmed to automatically disable macros when it would cause opening the file to take a long time (how long, I'm not sure). Is this accurate? If so, can this be avoided?
Since I have people calling me on my days off to fix this problem, any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris
