SQL String Format Problem

Hi

I am sending queries to an access database from excel vba and get the error message "general ODBC error" when I send the following string

However, the following code works, so I can only assume that the problem is how I have constructed the text part of the statement (around "OPEN") - could someone point me in the right direction please?
