type mismatch error when deleting cells

I am running a simple piece of code that runs great until I delete one or more cells in the range that the code is working in, at that point I get a run-time error '13' type mismatch

If I clear the contents using the backspace key, I do not get the error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
