    Form controls vs. ActiveX controls

Can anybody explain the difference between these two options in Excel 2007? What are the advantages to using one over the other? They both seem to work fine whenever I use either one.

    Thanks!

    The same as in xl2003

Forms where the original controls then ActiveX ones came along.

Forms can be more stable but offer little flexibility.

ActiveX offer more formatting properties and expose events against which to code.

Personally I use Form controls unless I need a feature they do not have.

Is either one of them more or less compatible with Excel 2003 if I create them in Excel 2007?

They should be the same. You can't create a 2007 workbook to open in 2003, you must save it to the correct format - *.xls
    Hope that helps.
