validating the active cell of created drop down calender

Thanks Mr. Ron de Bruin for your example stated for creating drop down calender for cell from your following link

But I am facing following problems for cells created drop down calender

1. Validating for these active cells are not working
2. Code not working for merge cells ( which already you mentioned)

Is there any other way to overcome the above problem along with drop down calender
