search outlook contacts in excel and return email address to variable

Does anyone know if it is possible to display an Outlook contacts dialogue box (or construct similar userform) in excel to enable search of Outlook personal or a selected address list/s (or all), and return selection of email address/es to a variable (To:, CC: etc) for further uses within excel ?

This shouldn't be too difficult, but unfortunately I can't help you too much as I don't have Outlook. The way you need to go is to import the contact list into Excel (perhaps a hidden sheet or something) and then work with the details from within Excel rather than keep interrogating Outlook's contact file. I found some code here that (claims it) will import your contact list into Excel - untested by me as I don't have Outlook. You might also find this page useful by **** Kusleika, which seems like a good resource on Outlook contacts.

thanks for your response with the suggested method.
I was hoping to have a userform within excel to show address book lists (folders) available, select 1 to search (as if using Address Book dialog box in Outlook), allow search and selection, and store selection/s to a variable.
As the address book folder is quite large also.
