'Button" Property window not getting displayed

Hi All,

In my workbook, i am trying to add "Button" manually.Initially, i was able to add Button & change its properties, but suddenly properties window for that button was not appearing. Infact when i add button, then click the property icon, property of sheet gets displayed.
Can anyone let me know how to rectify it.

Secondly, if i add a button, excel by default renames it button 1, after adding i delete the button and add another, this time the default name will be button 2, probably because this namr gets stored somewhere in excel and next time we add the number is incremented. What i want, when i delete a button, say button 1 and then add again then again name button 1 should come and not 2.

Let me know if i have made myself clear.

What type of button - Forms menu or Controls ToolBox?

Is the sheet protected, this will prevent you accessing the button's properties.

If you add the button manually you can re-name it. If you add by code then you can change the name within that code.

1. I am taking button from control toolbox
2. The sheet in question is not protected but the others are

Last part of question was not about changing name, the problem is when you create a button, excel gives the default name of Button 1, then you deleted the button and again created one, this time the default name is button 2. What i want is if i delete a button say button 1 and create again, then the button name should be 1 only not two as it is currently happening with me.
