Delete Excel sheet without opening file

Hi,

I am looking for a way to delete a predefined Excel sheet from a file but without opening the file using VBA or any other kind of batch processing.
For example if my file is myexcelfile.xls that has 3 sheets (sheet1, sheet2 and sheet3), would like to delete let's say sheet3 but without actually opening the file.

George, I'd be surprised if anyone can tell you how to do that.

The file is being generated by BusinessObjects and takes 4 hours to open. Only 1 of the 3 sheets is being actually used the others 2 are never used and are not formatted for Excel. I’m not very hopeful there is an answer to my question but I had to give it a shot…
