Automatic calculation of percentage of given holding

    Hello,

I am currently doing an internship at a local office, and noticed that they are doing things in an overly time consuming way when using spreadsheets. In an attempt to save them some time I hope to automate this process with a script or macro! However, my knowledge of how this might be implemented in Excel is fairly limited. How easy is it to use VBA or a macro to interact with a large spreadsheet? Is it something a fairly non computer literate person could do without too many problems? (i.e. once I had done it, would they be able to use it without too many issues?)

Also, I have some small programming background - however I am entirely unfamiliar with the syntax used in VBA / Excel. If I work out the pseudocode, could anyone help me out with converting it?

    Thanks,

    Frh

EDIT: Ok, so I attached a mockup to help describe what I want to do. There are three important sections: AccountName, Holding and Value. I want to loop through the entire spreadsheet, then for each different account name work out what percentage of the total holdings a certain holding makes up (e.g. X), and then print this in an adjacent column at the end of that accounts holdings. If this is unclear, please let me know! I have thought of a (probably very bad) way of solving this, which I can post if it would be helpful.
