    Column to Multiple Column request

    Hi guys,

I think there is a simple solution, or Macro, to just moving a list of figures from one column to multiple columns.

IE, column A has 40,000 records. I need to move every 2000 record into new columns. Is there a quick solution to this? I've just been copy and pasting so far.

    Thanks
    Kryt0n

If your items are in column A:

    then in B1 enter:

=INDEX($A:$A,ROW()+(COLUMN(A$1)-1)*2000) and copy down 2000 rows, then copy over 20 columns.

Then you can copy\Paste Special >>> Values over the data so you can then delete the original column A...
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Thanks for that but it's not really the quickest solution, it still involves a lot of copy and pasting.

Like I say, just really dragging and dropping every 2000 records into the next column from the original column A. Is there nothing else thats quicker than the above reply?

Faster than copying/pasting 2000 rows at a time.....

You only have to enter the formula once, copy it down 2000 rows and across 20 columns... shouldn't take more than a minute...

The copy|Paste Special >> Values shouldn't take more than 30 seconds.
