Consolidate 2 workbooks

Is they a way to consolidate 2 worksbooks closed into one master workbook. I just want the data from both workbooks into the same place. I will do i with a button if I have too, is there a better way to combine the data into one. All the workbooks are in the same folder.

Having trouble with this subject, and not sure what too do. I have posted the same question here http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=384967. I have had great help here,just trying too find out if this can be done. I tried too go to the other post and remove it but do not know how. I will stay here and hope for a answer. Not sure if I'm giving enough info for my problem

I guess its not consolidate two workbooks, its take a sheet from each workbook and combine it in another workbook. Does anybody know if this is possible, or consolidate from one sheet and combine it with the other sheet in the workbook.

Thank you, I have done a lot of reading with no luck.I'm very new too excel but able too put codes into place if they work on my examples. I think merge is a good idea, like merge journal1 into journal2. The problem is journal 1 might be closed if I using journal2. Will it update if its closed, even if I used a update button in journal2 to update data from journal1 would work. Can a code be wrote for this.
