Creating an input box to use as a search funtion

    Hi

I would really appreciate some help in setting up a control button on Excel 2003.

I have built an Access database to track riders passing through a control on a bike ride. Some of the people at other controls, however, want 'an Excel version'. It's not the right tool for the job, nor am as proficient in using Excel, but sometimes you have to go with what you've got.

What I want to do is this. I have a column of rider numbers, called "number". I would like to add a button at the top of the column, which generates an input box. I would like Excel to move to the record in the column that corresponds to the number that the person types into the input box.

My VB knowledge is pretty lousy, and I've tried to work out how to do this for ages. I'm not getting anywhere though. Can anyone help?

    Many thanks!

A much easier approach might be to filter the rider numbers and have the users select the rider. After the rider numbers are entered into a column, click Data|Filter and you will see a dropdown from which to select.
