Chart only plots if cell value is entered manually

    Hi all.

I have a smiley chart I found that uses a macro, but I cannot get it to work as I want it to.

If I input the total manually it works, but I want it to work from a cell that contains a formula. I have attached the sheet for you to have a look at. The idea is that I input amounts each month, the total at the bottom adds the values up and plots the chart.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tony

The test of the Target address will only pass if the cell changed was C13.
As this is a formula unless you re-enter the formula the shape will not update.

This revision checks the dependent cells to see if C13 is affected.

Thanks for getting back to me Andy.

I've put the new code in, but it its working? It doesn't go up in the scale I want it to, and it seems that it is only effected by figures added to column C. The target I want set is 10000 (so fully smiling if 10000 or over, and a medium smile if the cell states 5000.

    Thanks for your help,

    Tony

So I see. The second dependency returned if not C13 but D13 or E13.

    Hi Andy.

It still isn't working. Its strange because if you delete the formula in C13, and try typing some figures in the cell yourself, it works perfectly? It seems as soon as you put the sum formula back in to add all the monthly amounts, it goes pear shaped!

I don't get it! I've tried your version too, but the same thing happens - it doesn't move as it should. I just filled in the whole table, the total went to £14000 and the thing was still frowning at me!!

Could it be the settings I've got on my version? Thanks for all your help so far Andy.

I assume you have enabled the macros?
