Question How to add hover tips to image buttons?

    Hi All,

I have created a reporting template in Excel 2003 with a fair amount of built in macro functionality. This includes several standard "icons" which are actually pictures with macros assigned.

All agree it is a user friendly tool but complain that the "icons" do not show tips after hovering over them.

Does anyone know how to add hover tips to these "icons" such as those available to hyper links?

I've been working on this for quite a while and it has me stumped.

You can get ControlTipText on a control on a form. I don't think you're going to get it a a control on the sheet.

Hmmm... Is there some way to capture the event that switches the cursor to the "hand"?

    Hello PeteTheTool,

Provided you have already saved your workbook, you can add a HyperLink to your Shape. Hyperlinks have display text that appears when you mouse over it, just like a Tooltip on a menu. This doesn't even require VBA.

    1. Select your Shape
    2. Right Click on the Shape's Border
    3. Click on Hyperlink...
    4. Check Link To: is set to Existing File or Web Page
    5. Check Look In: is set to Current Folder
    6. Scroll down the list till you find the name of your Workbook
    7. Click the Workbook Name to Select it
    8. In the Upper Right Corner, Click on Screen Tip...
    9. Add the Text you want displayed.
    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

    Thanks Leith,

Looks like that'll have to do, I'll then have to add a follow hyperlink event also.
