IF statement does not produce required results

    Hi all,

I have a work sheet which includes a column of numbers representing certain daily events. I am building a user defined function to analyse the trend in the numbers by assisigning values from -2, -1, 0, 1, 2 based on comparison of two days.

Below is the function I built but it is not working, it is resulting in zero values in most conditions. I have attached the sheet which includes the numbers and the function. I hope someone can help.

You told us everything except what you're trying to do.

    Dear windknife,

Thanks it worked, I was focused on potential errors with how I am stating the conditions and forgot about the variable types.

    Dear shg,
I am trying to analzye the trend of the events based on the numbers I presented in the attached sheet. Anyways, the solution windknife provided worked.

Thanks for both of you for following up.
