I want to save a worksheet as a CSV but Excel saves the column headings as the first line of the saved csv file. I don't want the column headings in the saved file. Any help much appreciated

Why not manually delete the header row and then save as .csv?
Where there is a will there are many ways.

This is for end users to enter data into then save as CSV. Having to delete the column headings before saving is just another step they could forget. I thought maybe there was a way in Excel to tell it what range of data comprises what becomes the .csv file. Any thoughts appreciated.
If you're doing this via VBA anyway, copy the sheet, delete the header row from the copy, save as csv, delete the copy.
