My password-protected vba code is locked for viewing...

I've noticed that, on occasion when I protect the vba modules with a password, and copy the Excel workbook containing the password-protected modules, to a different computer, when I then try to unprotect the vba files I get a status message that says "Project is unviewable" with a dialog title that says "Project Locked". I am not presented with the password entry dialog box as usual so am unable to enter my password to unlock the vba code.

    Why does this happen?

    Thanks,

    Stu

    Hello Stu M,

What version(s) of Excel does this happen with?
    Sincerely,

This normally happens when the workbook is shared, it's not usually version specific, if you unshare the workbook before protecting then move the workbook you will see the difference, however, where you have the workbook now simply unshare it and you should be able to view the project.

    Simon:
    The workbook is not shared.

    Thank you,

    Stu

Are you locking the project in a later version than 97?

Sometimes; with Excel 2007, which is what I used to lock this application in this instance.
