Email Open Workbook as an Attachment to Email

Let's say I have a workbook open. After working on it and saving it, I need to email it as an attachment, to an email address in cell B20.
    • What VBA code would I use, without the macro prompting me to enter the file name?
    • And can I email an open Excel file as an attachment in the first place?
If I can achieve both the above, it will be a great help to the project that I am currently working on.

I have read the code in this post with interest, and if it can be modified to fulfill my requirements, it will be great.

    Thanks in advance.

Bazza, you can mail open workbooks without issue. See here for a number of examples that can be modified to meet your needs and depending on your e-mail method:

Re: Email Open Workbook as an Attachment to Email

    Thanks Paul,

I have been to your suggested site and many such websites looking for code. They either tell me that Outlook is not my default email client (which it is not), or they simply do nothing.

Whereas the code on the other post that I have linked to above, opens up Outlook even though it is not my default client and has the email ready for me, but that code does not provide for attaching the active workbook.

What is what I am looking for is:
    • The open Excel file attached to a new email in Outlook, even though it is not my default email client.
    • Email address to be picked up from cell B20

So, a modification of that code would be preferable to me. Unfortunately, I am no good at VBA of any sort.

    Regards.
