Linked workbooks with macros

I have an application that consists of multiple financial workbooks each containing macros. I need to be able to open a main workbook and link to these other workbooks and pull data from specific cells that are derived via macros. Unfortunately I can't get the macros to execute in the linked workbooks unless I open all of the workbooks using Excel. I would prefer to fire the macros when I open the main workbook only. Is this possible and if so can anyone point me to an article or website that may have a similar example posted. Thanks. Joe

It's not completely clear what you have setup so that's probably why there has been no replies.

So you want the macros to execute from a Main workbook but you have placed the code in individual workbooks, is that correct?

If so the question would be why.

Does the linking mean you have to open all workbooks before the code will function?

which specific cells are of your interest? and what are the macro names in each workbook? Any particular reason why you want to run macro from closed file? I can help you with pulling values from closed workbook.
