    Excel timer for multiple processes

I have a hobby retail business were we make wine from kits. Each wine catagory has different times at various stages when humans have to step in and do something to the wine. When keeping up with 4 or 5 it's easy enough with a pencil and paper but now I've grown to about 50 batches on the go at a time and it's getting more and more time consuming and an error likely situation.

I need an Excel and or Access thing I think but don't know enough about either program.

There are about 10 different process's each with about 5 steps that occur at different number of days from time=0. I would like an application that allows me to input a stock number and the app choose the correct sequence for printing. There would be up to 25 stock numbers that require the same sequence.

The selected sequence would create a printable form with the stock number and date when actions were required. (I've somewhat done that with Excel but pick the correct sequence manually).

I would like to be able to have the computer notify me every day when actions are required somehow.

I'm not sure if I'm asking in the right place or not.

Anybody understand what I'm saying here?

I am some what computer literate but my co-worker isn't. He's 75 and getting him to double click with a mouse is a successful day. He hasn't graduated to a right click yet though.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: Help with Excel and Access stuff

    Howdy:

I would think that a series of macros, each one writing date-specific entries into a log, dependent on all of the intervention times defined within the macro. That would make it easiest for your other user. For example, running the batch "x" macro would make a number of entries into the log, marking actions required on Day 2, Day 15, etc. The last thing that the macro would do is to resort the Log so that the new batch actions fall into the correct order - all of today's stuff in sequential rows. Then when you open the workbook, you can have the log scanned and the cursor move to the first action for today.

    HTH.

Re: Help with Excel and Access stuff

Hi Wineandstein, welcome to the forum.

There's a lot of benefit for you here in searching the forum for key data, but you need to help as well. It's a Forum Rule that your thread title has to describe your problem specifically, not refer to yourself or some generic "help" title. Proper thread titles make the whole forum a wonderfully searchable site. OK?

So read your original post, pull out the key need and use it in your title. Click on EDIT in the original post to edit the thread title.

    Thanks!
