NumberFormat = "$#,##0.00" give a result in £ but I want $ as currency

The title is pretty explanatory but basically, when I use

to format a column, it replaces the $ by the default excel currency (in my case £) but I need to set the display as a US $ (and € in some other column)

Is there a way to use a $ of a € sign to format a column?
