Excel string search in file

    Exclamation Excel string search in file

    I found this code that supposedly searches for a string in a text file... i have a few questions about it though

    1.Is it searching an opened txt file or can i search all txt files in a folder
    2. Can i make it use an entry in ... well say cell A1 instead of a specific coded string
    3. This line "Dim sr As StreamReader" is not corrent according to excel

    Hello xxentric,

    This macro will open a single file in the folder you specify. The word you want to search for is in cell "A1" of the Active Sheet. Change the File Path and File Name to what you are using.
