    Macro Security Warning

Somewhere along the line my "Template Excel" (the one that loads when I start a New Spreadsheet) and thus all my subsequent excels that I have created start off with a "Security Warning" asking me to "Disable Macros" or "Enable Macros".

Why is this happening and how can I get rid of it?

    Thanks,

    Rob

Delete all code modules in the template, and everything in the Sheet modules and the ThisWorkbook module.

Can you be a little more specific? I need to know where to find these items.

    Re: Macro Security Warning

From the Tolls menu open the Options dialog. In the General Tab you should see

"At startup open all files in:" & the path listed opposite.
    Hope that helps.

I did check this and there was no path listed, but I am confused on what this has to do with the Security Warning.

I will use the filename test.xls as an example.

When I open test.xls, a window opens asking me to "Disable" Macros" or Enable Macros". I do not know why this appears since the file has no macros in the first place.

After I click on either "enable" or "disable" the Macro (as mentioned above) I go to:
    Tools > Macros > Macros...

Of course a Macro window pops up, but there is nothing listed anywhere. In the "Macros in:" drop down box, there are three choices:

    "All open workbooks"
    "This workbook"
"PERSONAL.XLS" (this is the name of my template, another issue all together)

None of these choices brings up any Macros.

How do I "clean the template" and or subsequent files of this "phantom macro"?

    Thanks,

    Rob

You must have some empty modules in your Book1.xls which is what Excel opens for a new book, this is in the XLSTART folder the path of which should be in the Options dialog
