Vlookup with Dates trouble

I am using excel 2007, and trying to incorporate a VLookup into some code. The VLookup is comparing dates, which I think may be part of the problem.

In the v lookup, the range being searched (3rd argument) does not seem to be providing the date value. The first record being checked should match as the date being searched for (9/26/2009) exists in both LastDate and a cell contained in RngDaily (A53) Result is evaluating as error 2042. Testing in the immediate window, by setting last date equal to Cell(A53) evaluates as True. As does the following:

But the VLookup does not find the match? Anything else to test?
