using vlookup in excel to compare columns

    hello members,

I have some data with close to 250 rows in a excel sheet(Excel 2003) that needs to be compared. Appreciate if someone can help me with vlookup / any other excel routine that can help me achieve this. How do i filter out failed results ?Some sample data from my excel sheet:

Another question is, do I need to perform a sort before I can check this or is vlookup able to handle unsorted data.

    Hi,
Your problem will be a lot easier to understand and solve if you supply a small data sample in a workbook. You can upload a file by clicking "Go Advanced" below and then the paper clip icon.

Try this in a colum, for example column AA, start in AA3 and copy down

This is an array formula and must be confirmed with CTRL-SHIFT-Enter, then copy down.

If there is a match of columns E and Q and the adjoining columns also match, the formula will say TRUE, if the adjoining columns of a match are different, the result is FALSE. If the value in column E is not found, the result will be "no match"
