sum words in column

I want to calculate how many times the word yes is displayed in a column.

For example if this is my column, what code should I input in G6 to sum the yes answers.

Yes
No
Yes
Maybe
Yes
G6

=COUNTIF(G1:G5;"Yes")

Thanks for the quick reply guys and I had tried it also before but I cant seem to get it to work. I entered this code (my excell is in dutch)
=SOM.ALS(G1:G5;"yes") but then it just gives 0 as a value where it should give 3??
