When protecting workbook with pw, unlocked cells are still locked

I have had a workbook that has 2 sheets.

When I protect the main sheet with a password, the unlocked cells are also locked.

When I move my cursor over any cells, it has the pointed finger as though it has a macro over it, which it doesn't.

When I click on any cell, the screen flashes and a large part of the screen momentarily it looks like a selected area.

I also am using Freeze Panes. Removed the Freeze and still no good.

If I use the horizontal scroll bar and click the right arrow 3 times, they become unlocked.

If I move the screen 3 clicks to the left, it re-locks all of the unlocked cells.

I do know how this function works. I use it alot. But, this is crazy.

    Any ideas?

Have you been deleting a lot of rows that have had buttons?

No. I have not deleted any rows with buttons. After this happened, I deleted about 10 rows at bottom of sheet and the same with columns to make sure something had pushed something out some how.

Have to leave for 1 1/2 hours now. Church.

Re: When protecting workbook with pw, unlocked cells are still locked

Just back from Bible Study and came up with an idea.

    I unlocked the workbook.
Then, I unlocked the total worksheet via Format cells
Then, I locked the workbook again and all cells should be unlocked.
    But, the same condition exists.

Tomorrow, I am going to try copying all my macros into a new workbook and then gradually re-structure. I will test every so often to see where and if it happens again.

Hope someone can come up with a solution before I have to do that.

    Hi Dave . . .

I checked out your suggestion. That is exactly what is happening to my spreadsheet.

Is there any correction for this problem?

You can use a code to delete all the butons

    Hi Dave . . .

I don't use actual buttons. I use a blank clear text page over a cell in this application. I like what I can do with them.

I have never had this problem before.

I tried the button delete code, but the macro links did not get erased.

I could delete all of the links and see if the problem goes away.

Do you think this would do any good?

Or, do you have any other ideas?

I suppose you will have to supply a sample workbook that shows the problem.

    Hi Dave . . .

Well, I decided to re-do the program on a new worksheet. It now works fine. Thanks for the link.

It sure would be nice if there was a way of deleting all Excel links. It would also be nice if all Internet links could be deleted from spreadsheet.

    I'll mark the post "SOLVED".
