Visual Basic compiler - odd performance

I am encountering a situation wherein each line of VBA code is essentially compiled as I type on that line, instead of when I move to a different line. For example, if the code I entered is incorrect, the compiler waits about half a second and then turns it red. Also, if I enter a space, it deletes it immediately. Has anyone else come across this situation? Any ideas on fixing it? Thanks in advance.

Tools > Options > Editor, uncheck Auto syntax check and see if the behavior is more to your liking.

Unfortunately that does not help. Same issue.

I figured out that this performance only occurs when a specific file (containing a lot of macros) is open. Still not sure what the specific issue is but I'm going to mark it as solved.

[Edit] I would mark it solved but appears I can't edit the first post.
