Coordinates and Distance formula

Okay first of all i want to thank all the people who have helped me before... what i am trying to do now, is use the standard distance formula .... Im hoping that in cell A1 there can be a pair of coordinates, in an (X,Y) format ... Then in cell B1 hopefully there will be a second pair of coordinates in an (X,Y) format .... Cell C1 would then use the standard distance formula to give me the distance. I know i could do this using 5 cells, A1 having the first pair X, B1 having the first par Y, C1 having the second Pair X, D1 having the second pair Y, and then E1 having the equation .... if anyone can help me make it so it only uses 3 cells ... Thank you
