get corresponding values

i want to automate getting corresponding values in excel.

Ex: if i enter a student's name in column A, i want to get his birthday in column B. The names would be populated, but birth dates would be automated.

i have looked into using macro (VBA). since I am beginner, the codes, and step-by-step directions would help, unless there is an easier way to do this.
