    turn off calculations

I have attached a sample file. All the data is inserted into this file via a text file, except one column "G". Someone in this forum was kind enough to help me in being able to include the city name 'G' to a parcel number 'A'. However, the page is constantly trying to complete 'Calculations' and won't let me do anything without first hitting 'Control Break'. This is fine except that when I try to save the file into .txt, I don't have the option of 'Control Break' and I have to end up closing the file. As the 'real' file has over 100,000 rows, nothing happens very fast. I have tied changing the 'Calculation Options' but that doesn't seem to change anything.

    Any advice is appreciated.

The 'manage attachments' will not let me upload the sample file. However, In copying and pasting from the formula bar, Column G says the following:

Any help in getting this to stop calculations is appreciated.

    Re: turn off calculations

I just tried again and it says there is a forum error. I have trimmed it down to 10 rows but it still shows a size of 1.54 MB which tells me it has some baggage attached. I tried zipping it down to 1.09 MB but still get the error. I then tried another file (not related) and it uploaded fine. I will keep trying.

    Thanks.

There's a file size limit of 1 MB for zipped files, and I'm grateful for that.
If you only have a few rows of data:
select all rows below your data and delete them
select all columns to the right of your data and delete them.
Save the workbook and close it
then reopen and the file size should be much smaller.

    Re: turn off calculations

I did but to no avail. I even went to the other sheets and it didn't change anything. I am attaching a link to the code that was provided to me, earlier in this forum:
    HTML Code:
I used the very last code. There is also a sample file attached there.

I even tried copying the twenty or so cells and attaching them to a new workbook but magically, it is 1.54 MB!

    Thank you.

Here is a sample file with the 'macro' attached. I created a new one from the previous thread.

    Thank you for your help.

    Re: turn off calculations

click the microsoft office button, click the excel options button, then click formulas. From there the calculations can be changed to your preference.
