Recording a Macro with Excel and a different application

    Hi,
I am very new to the macros and have create dsome macros in Excel. But when i try to record something in excel and combining it with another application like SAP then the macro only records the stuff which i work in Excel but completely leaves out the stuff of SAP.
Does a macro record only what i click in Excel or am i doing something wrong?
Is there a way to record the clicks of the different applciation as well.
    thanks in advance.

There is no way to record in the Excel Macro Recorder what you do when you switch away from Excel, it is a local tool.

However, there are (unreliable) VBA functions like SendKeys that will send keystrokes into those other applications, though, once you figure out what they would be. I don't recommend it, only mention it exists if you want to research it.

    Hello karora,

Several years ago, I downloaded a Windows macro recorder. It allowed me to automate non Office applications. After doing a brief search, there are many of the programs still available. They are no doubt more capable than the one I used. Some are free, some are try and buy, and others you have to buy. Do a search for "Windows macro recorders". You can probably find something you can use. It would easier and faster in the long run to use one these programs, rather than write custom macros.
    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

Basically i need to upload data from Excel to SAP database. There are few tools for it but is there a way in Excel through which it can be done?

    Hello karora,

Yes, it can be done. If you search "Upload Excel to SAP" you will find all the information you need.
