I make it 5.50425... , but it took 4secs to crunch.

I tried running through Excel but it was pretty slow.

Then the VBa route, it's instant

Sorry a mjsunderstanding. In both cases I meant my attempts in Excel using a combination of formulae and VBa ------ Not Solver.

I haven't used Solver as yet, obviously the sooner I do, the better!
