Select user form with data entry

This is one I've been thinking about but really don't have any ideas how to approach.

I use a bar code reader to enter the part number (actually a game and book number of a game), add a description and value, then put the item in inventory.

I'd like to be able to open the spreadsheet (manually, not with the scanner), then call up a user form by scanning the barcode to do the data entry. The barcode is always more than 10 numbers and no other input would have this. The data would then be put on the inventory list.

If the scanned code is already persent in inventory I want to open a different user form that will let me select some options, like whether the game has gone from storage to sale or is sold out.

So, creating the user forms is reasonably straight foreward but I'm not sure where to start with opening them by scanning a barcode. I'm looking for ideas.
