How to copy macros from one workbook to another

    Hi all,

I am using MS Excel 2003 and I had downloaded a spreadsheet from a website for tracking Weight Watcher's points. It works great and was freely available but I wanted to add a simple =sum column to also see what my daily calorie intake was, but when I try to do this I get a message saying that the cell or chart is protected and therefore read-only. I try to remove protection but it's password protected, and of course I don't know the password.

So, to get around this I made copies of each worksheet and put them into a new workbook. Issue now is that the macros do not copy over. So the question is can I copy macros or modules from a protected workbook into a different workbook?

    Thanks,

    Sam

    Hi,

There are many solutions ... but the easiest for you is to work on your "first" workbook, make all the changes you need ... and once you are done save this workbook with a different name ... that 's it ...

From the VBA IDE you can drag the macro modules from one workbook to the other. Same is true of userforms and class modules. If the macros are in the Sheet objects you will have to copy the macros from one workbook to the other via copy/paste.
