Count if, through HLookup + VLookup - OR - Macro

Hi,

I am trying to build a formula / macro for following requirement.

Column A is a group of multiple values, repeating 3 times.
Example:
A1 == x
A2 == x
A3 == x
A4 == y
A5 == y
A6 == z,
and so on..

Column B cells has values 3 possible values for each of the row. Values are: "m

I am trying to transfer following logic to a formula / Macro :-

For each set Column A cell value,
Locate first Row of the corresponding Column B, which has values either "m" or "n"
For this row assign Count = 1, to Column C.
===

Is it possible to use VLookup & HLookup combination to derive this logic automation?
Or,
Any Macro help?

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
