    Userform Coding

    Hi

I have recently created a user form with 5 different text boxes(which match 5 different collums in a hidden sheet) and a command button.

Essentialy when a value is entered in one of the text boxes, I want to click the command button and it to search the hidden worksheet(filled with data) and bring up any matching data in a blank sheet.

Could anybody help me with this?

    Thanks

    Joe

    Re: Userform Coding

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
    Hope that helps.

    hi Joe,

Here's a bit of a longshot without seeing your sample workbook...

I have made a file in the past that outputs matching info onto a blank sheet based on entries directly into the cells of column A which you can download from http://www.excelforum.com/2226101-post20.html. It may not be as flexible as you need & it doesn't involve any userforms or validation of inputs (it either finds something or it doesn't).

    Re: Userform Coding

    hi Joe,

I don't have any "premade userform code" so your request would take me* a while and I (+ others) often prefer to help with specific problems and give you some guidance - most of us prefer not to do everything for you ie we would rather "teach a man to fish..." etc.
*others may have premade code & be able to give you a solution quite easily - fingers crossed eh?

I'm busy this weekend so here are some links which should help you make a start:

    - Check out Roy's examples: http://www.excel-it.com/vba_examples.htm
    - http://spreadsheetpage.com/index.php/dataform/home
    - Andy Pope's file in http://www.ozgrid.com/forum/showpost...36&postcount=7
    - maybe mpi's principles in http://www.xtremevbtalk.com/showthread.php?t=285733
    - check out the link DominicB gives in http://www.excelforum.com/1734425-post2.html
    - You may even find some examples in the Excel VBE Help files.

Let us know when you hit some problems...
+ post a new workbook with your attempted code.

    Goodluck
