How To Activate Macro when ENTER key not touched when entry made

Is there a way that any macro can be activated when a button is clicked but the entry into a cell has not actually been completed by touching the ENTER key ?

Maybe something like a hover over function ???????

    Short answer: No.

Long answer: the cell entry has to be completed in order for Excel to evaluate the cell and do something with it. You complete a cell entry by hitting Enter, one of the arrow keys, tab or clicking the check mark next to the formula bar.

While Excel is still in cell edit mode, you can not trigger any macros.

What do you want to do?
