how to make live update of cells?

Hi,
Sorry if the title is misleading, i am not good at making titles

Problem: I have a data validation list in couple cells and would like the index of the item in that list displayed in the cell right beside it using =MATCH(H12,CableList,0).
Note: CableList is the array to look for the H12 value.
Right now, I have to go to that cell, and run that formula again.
I would like to make it so that the index changes as soon as a new item is selected.

I had it the way i wanted a week ago, but it seems i messed up something.
Could anyone please help me solve this problem?

Tools > Options > Calculation, tick Automatic.

Well it;s not a problem, but it would be good if I can do this.

Problem: If i put a formula in 1 cell, then I can drag it for the celss below it
But I have a huge list, so is there any way to do this faster, without dragging for 900 rows, without the use of macro? Does it work for the whole column also?

Select the cell with the formula and copy (Ctrl+C)
Then select the cell below it.
Without changing what cell is selected, scroll down to row 900.
Hold down the Shift Key while selecting the cell at row 900. (this will select all the cells between that cell and the original cell)
Then paste (Ctrl+V)

Does it work for the whole column also?
