Cell won't acept formula

Hi all
I'm trying to repair a spreadsheet and I've got a problem. There is a cell that should have a formula but it's gone and I can't enter it. I've made sure it's not protected, when I enter the formula it gives me a warning not to entre data directly to this cell as it has a formula. This warning was written by the guy who did this sheet, I can't find it in the code anywhere...

Any idea's how I can get this code in?

Ensure the cell (or column) is not pre-formatted to Text

If it was just formatted as text, it tould not give a warning. Is the sheet protected?

If not, there may be some VBA in the background

Thanks for the reply, just looked at the format and it was a custom date format, changed to general and it still wouldn't acept the formula.

I can't find any code around this. But maybe I'm not looking deep enough......
The sheet has very little code that I can see, only half a dozen small macros. Nothing around this cell that I can see.

i'm guessing uploading the file isn't an option, because of the sensitivity of the information, however, could you post the vba code to see if we can spot something ?

Is there a way to see all the code as I cant see anything. Nothing in the sheets or modules...

I did a right click to check properties on this sheet in the VBA objects viewer and it requires a password for this so there must be some code in the back ground. I don't know the password and don't know how to contact the original writter so I think I'm stuck!

It might have Data Validation on that cell and the message comes from that.
