Cell pictures according to another cell data

Hello everyone.

I'm kinda new to Excel and have been learning its functions mostly from the internet. I'm working on a project for the Euro 2012 football world cup (just to give you an idea why I want pictures).

I've managed to get the fixtures and tables up and running (using the IF command mostly) but now I also want the flags of each country, which I already have on my HD, to appear in the corresponding cell of that respective country.

For example,

Group A consists of 6 countries. I put them under E7 - E12 in order -> Germany, Turkey, Austria, Belgium, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. What I want now is the flag, which is located on my hd (titled ger.gif, tur.gif, etc.) to appear in cells D7 - D12 and also in any other cells that may contain the names of the countries (like in Fixtures, for example, when Belgium in cell AE16 plays Germany in cell AK16, I'd like both flags to appear right next to both respective countries; the Belgium one in AD16 and the German one in AJ16). I was considering doing insert>add picture, but that would take WAAY too much time and it's not as interesting as coding.

Any ideas how to do that?

Also, in the knock-out phase, when a country wins (for example, Germany in cell B2 with the flag in A2) and goes into the next phase (quarter final, Germany in cell D2), how do you make it that the flag in A2 will also automatically be copied into cell C2? I was kinda thinking if it were possible to make an image appear automatically in a spreadsheet when a certain text is typed in (for example, A2: "ger.gif" + enter = German flag) but couldn't find anything on the net.

I started it with the world cup in mind and never got round to finishing it properly. So don't expect it to be bullet-proof.

At present it only allows a countries' flag to appear only once on the sheet

No safeguard has been introduced to prevent a team playing itself.

The shapes are all named "Flag_" & "Country"

The named ranges "COUNTRY" & "TEAM_CODE" are dynamic.

I hpoe this might give you some ideas and pehaps the opportunity for some creative coding.
