Question Formula based on results from sheets.

ok so i am trying to figure out a formula for this with no luck, hopefully i can get some help with this..

    I have a work book with three sheets: sheet1, sheet2 and sheet3

    sheet2 contains the following data:

    -----A------------------B
    1.name1------------94%
    2.name3------------95%
    3.name2------------78%

sheet1 contains the following data: Formated

    ---------A---------------------------B------------------C------------------D------------------E
    1.(='sheet3'!A1)---------datab------------datac------------datad------------formula here
    2.(='sheet3'!A2)---------datab------------datac------------datad------------formula here
    3.(='sheet3'!A3)---------datab------------datac------------datad------------formula here

sheet3 contains the following raw data:

    -----A------------------B-----------------C-------------------D
    1.name2---------datab------------datac-------------datad
    2.name1---------datab------------datac-------------datad
    3.name3---------datab------------datac-------------datad

the names will change from time to time because the raw data varies

i need help figuring out how to create a formula that will allow me to paste data in to sheet2 and have column "B" info appear in column "E" in sheet1 associated with the proper names

i was thinking the best way to do this is to have E1 =if a1 equals 'sheet2'!a1:a3 and am

    help is much appreciated!

Post a workbook with some real data and mock up the desired results. That will explain what you're trying to achieve much better than the above.
