    Conditional Formatting

One column of data, 1,000's of cells long.

I am trying to highlight cells that are a predetermined difference from the cell above.

    A1 10
    A2 11
    A3 15
    A4 40
    A5 39
    A6 50

If my diference was greater than 10 then the cell above, cells A4 and A6 would be highlighted.

    Anybody know the formula?

    Thank you

    Re: Conditional Formatting

Select from A2 down to the bottom and go to Format|Conditional Formatting, select Formula Is and enter: =A2-A1>10

then click Format and choose from Font tab.

You can absolute reference to a cell containing the 10, if it is a changing value.

    e.g. if B1 contains 10, then use formula =A2-A1>$B$1
Where there is a will there are many ways.

    > ABS(10) is not working. How do I highlight the cells that have a difference of 10 plus or minus.

    Thank you

    Re: Conditional Formatting

    Try:

    =abs(a2-a1)>10
