    IF Function?

Need help. I'm trying to assign a commission to a particular sales rep in excel and have it tag a percentage value to an individual name. Example. I have 2 reps - Mark and David. David gets 5% commission and Mark gets 10% commission - I want to be able to put in a formula that tells excel to calculate 5% when the account name's cell says David and 10% when Mark's name is in there. Something like =IF("David'), H43*.05? Thanks for your help...

    re: IF Function?

You need to use a table of names & associated commission, then use VLOOKUP with the IF. Also see the nesting Functions example here

    To add to Roy's comment.

Make the table and then use data validation to create a list for the names of the sales reps.

This will ensure that someone doesn't type "Dave" instead of "David" and the formula doesn't work.

Anytime you're working with information, try to eliminate the possibility to create errors.
