How to send key strokes from keyboard

Sorry, I really don't know where the following question should be posted. Please advise if this is not acceptable and where I should post it.

I have a number of repetitive short entries where it would be very nice to have a Send Keys shortcut on the keyboard.

I have them in Excel, as well as, other programs.

    All help would be appreciated.

    Hello Matt,

Glad to hear the good news about your wife. SendKeys is not always a reliable method to initiate an action. Separate macros could be created to issue the keystrokes. The macros could then be assigned short cuts or placed in a menu.
    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

    Remember To Do the Following....

    1. Use code tags. Place
before the first line of code and
after the last line of code.

    Hi Leith . . .

My wife is doing so good it is just about unbelieveable. If I didn't believe in Jesus, I would have a hard time believing that she is doing so good.

I understand your ideas on using macro's for sending keys or runing the macro, but what I am looking for is . . . As an example, when I log into My Excel program, I have to enter an ID & Password. When I log into Excel Forum, I have to enter an ID & Password. Then, when I make a mistake typing these in, I have to re-type them again.

I really would like to have a send keys function for these type of entries. If you have any ideas where I can find out about "Send Keys", please let me know.

    Hello Matt,

Logging in to your program and logging in to the forum are very different processes. The only way I can think of to make these processes a "short cut" would be to have a menu to select the function from. "SendKeys" will not work for both.

    Leith . . .

I think ??? that I can answer my problem if I knew where to see how to set-up Send Keys using the keyboard. Can you show me or tell me how to do Send Keys?

Re: How to send key strokes from keyboard

    Hi Leith . . .

Maybe this is a better description of what I want to do.

I already have a link that opens the Excel Forum. After it has been opened, I want to manually select the ID input box. After selecting the ID input box, I would like to touch CTRL ALT I . . . (or whatever), this enters the following example . . . Launchnet which is my Id, followed by the Tab key followed by My Password followed by ENTER. This should sign me in. I have a handful or 2 of these type of entries that I would like to assign to different keys where Send Keys would input the appropriate ID & PW.

    Does this help any?
