    Enabling cell colour by keyword

    Hi guys.

Can someone help me out here. I need a criteria for each row (7 columns).

What I'm looking for is that when I type in a key word (i.e. Happy) in C2, the entire second row (A2-G2) changed cell colour to green. And if I type in 'Angry' in D3, the second row from A3-G3 should change cell colour to red.

Does it make sense? Can anyone help me with this?

Actually, no ... you've referred to both (A2 to G2) and (A3 to G3) as the "second" row. And you've said you'll put your key word in C2 in the first instance and in D3 in the second.

As far as keywords go, is it just Happy and Angry, or will you need to check for Bashful, Dopey, Grumpy, Sleepy and Sneezy, etc?

You can probably do this with Conditional Formatting but it would help to be clear about your requirements.

    Regards

My mistake, obviously A3 to G3 will be the third row. I'm going to use about 50 rows, with that same criteria in all of the when a keyword is written in column C, the entire row changes color, reflecting the keyword.

As for the keywords, I need 4 different ones, what their names is doesn't matter much, as I can change those myself in the VBA afterwards.

You mention conditional formatting, but won't that only be valid for one cell per format? If so, then I don't see that working out.

Hope that makes it a bit more clear

    Yes, that's clearer.

You could use Conditional Formatting across the whole row but, in Excel 2003, you are limited to three conditions. In Excel 2007 and above, that is no longer a limitation.
