view autofilter using cell refence as criteria

Need a button macro that will filter a worksheet but the first criteria of the autofilter function would be a cell reference from the original sheet

the two record boxes Accidents and Incidents are using cell d6 to to determine display value of data recorded in worksheet FILE

I am trying to filter the FILE entries by the driver but it will be determined by the content of cell D6 on the worksheet GUI

I tried this but cannot get past the Criteria1 reference

Hi,

Simplify this by creating a named range for the data. called 'Data' i.e.

Now create a 4 cell criteria range named say 'Crit'

Name Acc/Inc
MURPHY PADDY Accident

where cell 2,1, contains the formula =GUI!D6

and now just use the following macro

Hi Richard, many thanks for looking into this

that seems to be a workable solution. What I need to do after clicking the macro is view the FILE sheet and, after viewing, return to the GUI sheet but restore the FILE sheet to show all data for the next action

I will be able to tailor the rest for the incidents etc (I hope)
