limiting recalculation

I want to have a formula calculate only once so that when new data is added in the next cell the first cell does not get recalculated. Hope this is clear. Thanks

Select the cell, right click on the border of the cell and drag it away then place it back to it's original spot without ever releasing the mouse button., release the mouse button and select copy as values only.
