    Date from three columns

    Col 1 has month as text . . . Jan, Feb, Mar, etc
    Col 2 has day of numeric day of month
    C3 has year as 2011
    Col 4 is formatted “ddd d mmm yyyy”
    so in Col 4 I need date number derived from Col 1, Col 2 and C3

    Of course =RC[-2]&RC[-3]&RC1 does not work, but what would?

    Re: Date from three columns

    Hello,

    assuming

    A1 = month name, e.g. jan, or Feb or Mar
    B1 = day, e.g. 21, or 2 or 6
    C1 = year, e.g. 2010

    you can use

    =DATEVALUE(B1&"-"&A1&"-"&C1)

    Depending on your regional settings you may need

    =DATEVALUE(A1&"-"&B1&"-"&C1)

    cheers
