I know how (or have seen descriptions elsewhere) to protect all or portions of a spreadsheet as well as hide sensitive portions.
But in an environment where restricting access completely with a password would be unwieldy, I would like to get some sort of short email notice that just identifies the user and date/time a spreadsheet was accessed. Passwords are too often passed around.
These are situations where financial spreadsheets must be made available to many people, but they shouldn't be trying to modify formulas, etc.......but occasionally do secretly try to.
Automatic emailing of logs might be an answer as well, it it could be triggered when a sheet is closed, and if it identified the current viewer.
